Chum Darang is an Indian actress, model and entrepreneur best known for her work in Hindi cinema. Hailing from the Northeast region of India, she has received widespread acclaim for her dynamic acting, which has also given greater visibility to Northeastern talent in mainstream Indian media.
Darang made her beauty pageant debut in 2010 and was one of the finalists of North East Diva in 2014. She also emerged as the second runner-up in Miss Himalaya. Darang participated in Miss Earth India 2016 and won the prestigious title.
When asked about her inspiration in 2016, Darang replied “Sushmita Sen”, she said that Sushmita Sen has represented India and won the title of Miss Universe. The model further added, “She is also a single mom of 2 children and is also a great actress in the industry.”
In 2017, Darang competed for the title of Miss Tiara International 2017 and defeated 28 other contestants from different countries around the world. She also won the ‘Miss Sports Gear’ and ‘Miss Best National Costume’ subtitles during the beauty pageant.
Chum Darang made her film debut in 2022. She played a complex role in Harshvardhan Kulkarni directed ‘Badhaai Do’. She played the role of ‘Chenaki’, Bhumi Pednekar’s love interest. Rajkummar Rao also appeared in an important role in this film.
Apart from focusing on her modeling and acting career, Darang is also an entrepreneur as mentioned earlier. She is also running a coffee cafe named ‘Cafe Chu’ in her state. She also aspired to become a teacher in her childhood.
When asked about her decision to be a contestant in Salman Khan-hosted Bigg Boss 18, Darang said that it is a huge reality show and it is also a great process to make people understand about her and her home state.
The model and actress describes herself as “fun and a little bit bouncy”. She said, “I think I am sociable, I am fun. Sometimes a little bit bouncy, but I think I am also very funny.” One of the biggest things she is also excited about is meeting Salman.
