MS Dhoni : Chennai Super Kings (CSK) made a winning comeback at their home ground, defeating Lucknow Super Giants by 12 runs in match number 12 at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai. And the 6th of IPL 2023 on Monday. It was also a historic game for CSK skipper MS Dhoni , who completed 5,000 runs in IPL as well as played a brief innings of 12 runs in 3 balls with the help of two big sixes. And along with MS Dhoni trademark incoming timing show, the CSK bowlers leaked 13 wides and 3 no-balls in a wayward display against KL Rahul’s LSG.
Also chasing 218 to win, LSG were restricted to 205 for 7, and that too despite a half-century by Kyle Mayers and an impressive 18-ball 32 by Nicholas Pooran.
He had said that, ‘He will also have to bowl no ball and less wide. And we are also bowling too many extra balls and need to cut them down or else they will play under a new captain,” MS Dhoni said clearly in the post-match presentation.
Who scored a lot of runs on Monday. And it was an awesome game and high scoring played too. And we were all wondering what the wicket would be like. But we had that doubt. It was a high scoring game. And overall I think it was also a perfect first game that happened and it was pretty packed for the first game in 5 or 6 years that we’ve been here. And I thought it would be too slow.
But it was a wicket where you could score runs but overall it slowed down a bit as well. And we’ll have to see how it plays out in the next six games at home but hopefully we can score here.”

MS Dhoni has also said that his team’s fast bowling department will also need some improvement and will have to bowl according to the conditions. and “even if it is on the flatter side, force the batters to hit the fielders.”
Lucknow Super Giants captain KL Rahul had said that his team’s start was not ideal after winning the toss and inviting CSK to bat. And the bowlers also said that it was sticky and moving a bit so there was something in it for them but they didn’t hit it in the right areas. And when you have quality batsmen in the opposition, they will pay you too,” Rahul said.
When you bowl first on a fresh wicket, it also takes some time to understand what would be a good pace and line to bowl on that wicket as well. And (Devon) Conway and Rutu (Ruturaj Gaikwad) played some great shots so it’s something for us to learn from and get better at as well. Six overs going for 70 plus probably cost us the game in the end but I can’t tell one thing that Rahul felt.
